Carl Friedman

Initially, Carl Friedman had not intended to become a writer. In her earlier years she lived in Breda in the Netherlands, close to the city where she was born, Eindhoven. In Breda, Friedman worked as part of the editorial staff for De Stem (The Voice). In 1991, she published her autobiography entitled, Tralievader (Nightfather). Carl Friedman has written many novels now, all pertaining to World War 2, particularly the concentration camps. I find it really interesting that all of her written work is subjected around the concentration camps. Also, at least two of her works were centered around a daughter and father, with the father being the Holocaust surviver. I believe her father's circumstance played a major role in her life, and because it affected her so, she decided to write about the stories which she knows.
