Neo-Nazis
Today Nazi ideals still exist in many countries such as America. They believe in white supremacy and that the idea that white individuals should control the major governmental positions and be the majority population. They claim on their website that they are just decent white men and women concerned about the state that the world will be in once their children have reached adulthood. Also the party preaches that it is a crime that due to population trends by the year 2025 that white people will have become a minority. Also their website describes the immigrants as invaders of our nation and call our government an "evil, corrupt Judeo-Capitalist system." I find it hard to believe that there are still people that are this intolerant in society today. Claiming that immigrants are "invading our nation" is a ridiculous statement that I find horrible. Though they declare they are fully abiding of the constitution of our fore fathers, the American Nazi party does have some much deeper moral issues. They are using the same tactics and propaganda Hitler used in Nazi Germany, though much less effective and not much publicized. The party declares, "Because they want a cheap, slave-like work force - where decent wages and benefits will be a thing of the past. All in the name of selfishness and greed. Every year, our White children's expected life-style - is declining - compared to the previous generations." This is the same idea Hitler used in Germany, though at the time Germany was in an economic downfall and a somewhat failing country looking for someone to lead them. Now that people know the evils that come out of slander like this most people understand they can't tolerate ideals such as these.

It is ironic that the US has become the center of the Neo-Nazi movement since it fought to defeat the Fascists. Germany is so racked with guilt that very few of its citizens would dare associate themselves with Nazi's, and the US has a long tradition of racial prejudice. Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that the latest US Census data projects 2050 to be the rough date when the total number of minorities pass whites in population in the United States, but the poor economy is pushing the date further back due to decreases in immigration caused by the poor economy. The Neo-Nazi's are obsessed with the idea of 'White Nations' in Europe and North America, seeing all other nations as second rate and inferior. While many nations outside of Europe and North America are poor that does mean they are inferior, but the Neo-Nazis are jsut as blind as the group they take after.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe that such groups do exist and that they still find sufficient support to continue, yet i have discussed this with my mom and I have over time come to realize the community we have grown up in, the bay area specifically and california broadly is an extremely liberal, accepting and unprejudiced society. We are so sheltered from racism, sexism, anti-semitism in this area, we all joke about various races however it is extremely rare to find a group of people in our area that are truly prejudiced. However, when you look at the news, talk to people from other places, you find that racism not only exists today, but plays a major part in todays society. And I think this lack of exposure in our community contributes to the fact that I find the concept of true racism existing in our modern society so hard to grasp.

ReplyDeleteNeo-Nazism is also a huge problem in Russia. This video describes a group of Hitler-ifluenced "skin heads," who are responsible for perpetrating many of the acts against immigrants, such as beatings and intimidation. Such occurrences are seen daily, and this video tells of a rise in these actions on occasions such as Hitler's birthday. "Ironic, isnt it, that the Russians lost more lives fighting the Nazi's than anyone else." In Russia today however, the Jews are not the victims. Foreigners, such as people from the Caucus regions who were allowed to emigrate to Russia after WW2, are the targets. Russian Neo-Nazis have popular support, and are backed by politicians. They believe that the Russian people are being made to live like slaves in their own land, much like the ideology of American Neo-Nazism. A Russian parliament member even remarked "[Such Violence] is justified because the government is not taking any action." This video showed striking images, like members of the Nationalist Socialist Party holding up books called "The Myth of the Holocaust," and holding a rally in honor of Hitler's birthday. Russian Neo-Nazism is a serious problem, and this documentary provides an accurate portrait of this groups activities and ideals.
