Hermann Goring

Hermann Goring was the second in command in the nazi regime. Born in Bavaria he later became an ace pilot during WWI; the commander in fact of the infamous Jagdgeschwader 1 the squadron of the red baron. During Hitler's failed Beer Hall Putsch Goring marched at his side although he was shot in the groin forcing him to pull out of the struggle. Over the next several years when the nazi party began to control the country Hermann filled the roles of an internal leader. He was responsible for rearming the country as well as fixing the economy. After annexing Austria Goring was promoted to control the Luftwaffe. This made him the highest ranking officer in the country as well as the controller of the most powerful aircraft in the world. After launching many successful air raids Goring was captures in 1945 as the Allies pushed towards Germany. He was convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death by hanging. The night before he killed himself through cyanide ingestion. How he obtained the drugs is still unknown.
