This is an insightful video of how Galloway perceived life in Sarajevo and what prompted him to write the book. Near the beginning, I found it interesting at the end of the video, he defined civilization in how it means to him. He thinks it is the way that people act toward each other, and this in turn, gives them the advantage of building bridges, buildings, etc. But when the civilization breaks down, art is the only thing left to discuss it. This is similar to the conversation we had in class about how art is important, especially to the witnesses of such horrible experiences. Galloway made a good argument. When society does break down and nothing is civilized anymore, art is one of the only things that can break the boundaries enough to express it.
