Slobodan Milosevic

Slobodan Milosevic was the former president of many different powerful entities in the Serbian States. Early in his career he was an economist and also worked to receive a law degree from the best university in Yugoslavia. After serving as the chief economic advisor to the mayor of Belgrade, he befriended Ivan Stambolic whose father was the communist equivalent of the prime minister. Stambolic sponsored Slobodan to become the head of Yugoslavia's biggest bank. After serving 6 years he was elected to the Belgrade League of Communists City Committee. Two years later the Socialist Alliance of Working people unanimously supported his bid for presidency. When he won he was criticized for only trying to support Serbs in Kosovo despite the numerous other ethnicities. In an interview with TIME he stated that he supported all ethnicities equally. AS president of Serbia and later Yugoslavia he exercised wide censorships with media blackouts. His role in the Yugoslavian wars is extremely controversial. Opponents say that he incited and also supported certain ethnicity's and tried to wipe out the others in his dream for a united Yugoslavia. Supporters believe he only tried to keep his country in one piece and he never made it an ethnicity issue. One famous blogger offered 500 dollars for someone to present one solid piece of evidence in writing or speech showing him inciting one group against another. After several years no one has taken up his offer. After rigging elections Slobodan was removed from power in 1999 and put on trial for crimes against humanity and later genocide. After 5 years he died before ever hearing his verdict. The tribunal never reached one. Even his death was controversial. He had severe heart problems and then died of a heart attack. He took some medicine but in his autopsy it shows his blood contained a drug that would neutralize the effect of his medicines. Medical records show it was administered by the tribunal. Also, Slobodan requested to go to a specialized heart center but they said he could not go. Although he was never found guilty or innocent and in America this means he is still innocent Slobodan was a terrifying figure and I believe he was guilty on all charges.
